Funded and Commissioned Places
Great Western work in partnership with Aberdeen City and Shire councils to offer commissioned pre-school education places for children aged three to five. Every child is entitled to a free part-time education place from a date following their third birthday.
The national pre-school education entitlement is five 2.5 hour sessions weekly during term time.
If you choose to access pre-school education with Great Western, any hours attended by your child out with the statutory entitlement will be funded by yourself. You can use your Childs entitlement in a number of ways, for example over 5 days or over 2.5 days. If you are using two sessions in one day there must be a minimum of one hour between the morning and the afternoon session.
